The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-83367940437532029302012-04-26T18:38:00.000-07:002012-05-01T01:18:12.406-07:00My Atari 2600 FamilyIts one of those things that i really want to collect all time. Atari 2600.Yes! The mean machine, top of the line during the old times, I think 2600's are very collectible because of the impact and popularity it gave during its time, that was the time when video gaming was really a heap.The video gaming was the in's and out's i think during those times. It was the upper epsilon of video gaming to say so, its so good that almost every other kid in the block would cry hours just to have it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atariconsole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atariconsole.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Its that type of stuff that instantly pops up to ones mind when "vintage/retro video game" is on topic.The gaming scene was everywhere and this a talk about thing. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingconsole.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingconsole.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
My Atari 2600 venture went really a step by step process as it progressed,and still progresses, (i think) from my least wanted to almost my best wanted 2600 line of Atari game console. <br />
<br />
Initially, what i got was the Vader model. I think everybody is familiar with this black theme console which was related to "darth vader" (star wars). Not really different from any of the Atari 2600's technically , its just that this one is colored black overall. I got it with a Star wars game cartridge ( the only game it had). Why? because it actually came from a star wars fanatic and it was a peanut from his peanut farm of awesome star wars collection.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atari26004switch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atari26004switch.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was very happy to have it back then but ,time went on and i thought i wanted a 2600 that can be an eye candy also, so i wanted more, like, the atari 2600 wood type , at this point i had ideas about the 6 switch 2600's but i thought it'd be a long shot so ill take any wood type 2600 that ill see.Its just that it is so neat and very retro looking that i wanted one to play and display.<br />
<br />
So upon my waiting, one of my friends told me that a local guy(Pinoy) posted a reply on a forum (forum about random vintage stuff) that he found his old Atari eating dusts with some games but was not sure if the thing was working or what.Had no power supply for it so he was actually willing to put it on sale,as in low sale.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atari2600games.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atari2600games.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got interested so i visited the forums saw some photos and verified that it is indeed an original Atari woody 4 switch. Lucky enough, the guy was online and i sent a private message immediately. I was asking if he was interested to sell it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ataricontroller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ataricontroller.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
and then the 2600 4 switch came, to cut the story short. Then this 6 switch and i am hoping for the main machine next time! 2600 heavy sixer! I can consider parting with my other 2600 when that time comes.Don't misunderstand me i really like them, allot, but its just not possible that i keep all. I just don't have that luxury of space sorry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atariretrogame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/atariretrogame.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Anyway, the babies are in a great shape really. Logo's are intact, no signs of fading yet as well as the other paints on them. I, almost all the time, want to gather working stuff. I play with them from time to time so i wanted to get the working ones. So they are pretty much playable with quite a number of good games.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/atari2600vader.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/atari2600vader.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I have other atari 2600 stuff that i wasn't able to include in the photos (because i forgot i have kept some carts and other things on a different shelf) , maybe i can tag them along next time, i also have happen to sell one of my 4 switch wood type units to a friend because i just don't have a use for it anymore as i have another. I'm not a greedy person you know. It went along with some really good games so, its hard but the thing needed to go. I am confident that that thing will be taken good care of anyway.<br />
<br />The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-41487060238509986752012-04-20T04:09:00.000-07:002012-04-20T04:09:49.424-07:00Famicom weird game !Anybody has an idea what game is this? I got it a local surplus shop. The price is really cheap so did not hesitate to get it although i have no idea what the game was. Never seen!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/famicomgame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/famicomgame.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Really have no idea what game is this. Its like a rpg game when i tried to play it (the game is obviously in pure Japanese so i did not stand for long) Like those family oriented tv series in Japan where they usually have the Grandmother and the whole family in one house(Oh yeah i see it during the very long intro)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/whatfamicomgameisthis.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/whatfamicomgameisthis.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The game is pretty beat up but physically, works perfectly. I thought it was some kind of a game for the Famicom Karaoke or something because the art cover seems like they were holding a mic and singing, but it turned out that it wasn't.<br />
<br />
If anybody can help me find some info's ill be glad. For now, enjoy some photos !The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-77802552474207141122012-04-18T20:06:00.000-07:002012-05-01T01:18:27.350-07:00NEO GEO goodness!Its been a while since i listed something ! Its a big comeback with these NEO GEO pocket awesomeness! I got this two babies separately , well, two of my favorite handheld devices!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Neogeopocket.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Neogeopocket.jpg" /></a></div><br />
NEO GEO pocket folks. NEO GEO Pocket color that is! Like the Gameboy color and the likes! NEO GEO pocket color is a sequel to the first gen black and white display.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolorhandheld.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolorhandheld.jpg" /></a></div><br />
SNK stuff are always expected to be though and a step ahead when it comes to video gaming although it did not pretty much depict that here because of the graphics extent.But, the thing is great! It is playable though it does not have that huge number games because of lacking communication between the company and 3rd party developers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolortransparent.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolortransparent.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Although it is the last line among those SNK Neo geo products it still grabbed a pretty good market and sold around 2million units including regular pockets(according to WIKI)<br />
<br />
Don't have much games for it yet,Just 4. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolorgames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeopocketcolorgames.jpg" /></a></div><br />

Well one that pisses me off really is that you cant play it during nights or without external lighting, unlike the Sega Gamegear. But, it is actually one of those stuff that you can bring along when you are on a long travel or something. Very handy and the game cartridges are not really bulky, you can bring the thing with 2 to 4 games easy without hassle!<br />
<br />

I know the other one is not pleasing to the eyes because its still dirty yet but no, that's not the difference.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Pcengine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Pcengine.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I think I am lucky to have them both. Nope i am not a hoarder as I've said repeatedly on my previous posts. I'm not the type who gains happiness via getting double stuff.I'm lucky and glad because they are actually different.<br />
<br />
Okay.First, this one (the clean one) is actually a stock / UN-modded PC engine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ntscpcengine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ntscpcengine.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ntscpcengineboard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/ntscpcengineboard.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You see its very neat.Common and nice like any other units.<br />
<br />
While the other one(the still dirty unit) is actually a Modded unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/palpcengine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/palpcengine.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Palpcenginewiring.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Palpcenginewiring.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Both PC ENGINE 's have been sitting in my place for quite a time, and i did not even notice about the modification for quite sometime HA HA. I just noticed lately when i decided to play with the thing.I usually am using the clean unit. I finally decided to test the other unit (i was actually thinking of selling it that's why i tested it) PAL like signs came up when i actually used it. The buzzing sound was there and the Static screen kept on going. Also noticed that the RF channel switch is not present (like my HK Famicom). So, that's actually the time i decided to open up the thing and investigate.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/necpcenginepal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/necpcenginepal.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/palntscpcengineboardcomparison.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/palntscpcengineboardcomparison.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Just to be clear,i don't know if this is a licensed PAL modification of NEC(if there are actually any) or a home modification by someone, who definitely made a good job.<br />
<br />
(with switch)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginerfswitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginerfswitch.jpg" /></a></div><br />
(w/out switch)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginemod.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginemod.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I read few articles about PAL PC engine issues over the internet and the way i understood it, NEC's official stand sometime back then, that they explicitly announced over ads and papers, was, they did not release any official PAL PC Engine units and that the ones who were roaming around were unofficial and out of their liability.<br />
<br />
To contradict, some people had theories that NEC people had actually made initial PAL versions of PC engine for release but for some reason did not officially sell them but these still were actually distributed in Europe (unofficially) thru small merchants and not NEC itself just to clear out the stocks of initial productions.<br />
<br />
(PAL PC Engine extra modification board)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginepalmodification.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginepalmodification.jpg" /></a></div><br />
That's just the way i understood forum topics and stuff over the internet folks. I do not claim any right that this statements, theories and ideas are true or incorrect in any matter.<br />
<br />
PC engine stuff are quite a goodie. One very nice aspect of this stuff that i liked is that, its very compact as well as the games (HuCards). Very thin,just like baseball cards or something.<br />
<br />
PS.<br />
If in case anybody would like to request for more clearer board photos for reference, just send me a comment for request and your e-mail address. I am pretty much sure that this thing is not a licensed SEGA Peripheral. The manufacturer is Sane Ting Co. as its indicated at the bottom part.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadisk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadisk.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Basically this stuff is used to,in a good word "copy" ROM Games to floppy disks or floppy disk write games to empty floppy disks, and of course you can use it to play those copied games via floppy disk.In short, produces repro's , copies or whatever you may call it. ER , I don't even want to talk about PIRACY =/<br />
<br />
I Have seen stuff like it before but this particular model seems to fit MODEL 1 units because of its circular hole shape at the bottom.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadiskbottom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadiskbottom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The thing is huge and bulky so it covers almost 80% of the Megadrive when you place it for use. <br />
<br />
BEFORE<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadrivemegadisk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadrivemegadisk.jpg" /></a></div><br />
AFTER<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/segamegadiskaccesory.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/segamegadiskaccesory.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
The cartridge port is located at the right top part of the unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadiskcartridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadiskcartridge.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The machine is working when i plugged it. The screen showed that it is indeed booting but, i don't have floppy disks with me yet to try and write some games.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/howtousesegamegadisk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/howtousesegamegadisk.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I don't really think floppy disks are that reliable though specially when it comes to durability. Of course , unlike your game cartridges that can last really long and withstand impact, heat and etc, i think floppy drives are very sensitive. "FLOP"? but, definitely way way cheaper than the original cartridges.<br />

My last post was about a week or more so its really nice to get back on track. <br />
<br />
I, at times encounter consoles of different sizes, shapes and built. They can even be weird and out of the normal shape but, not did i encounter a cartridge this huge.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/snkneogeomvsmetalslug2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="340" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/snkneogeomvsmetalslug2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It's a NEO GEO MVS game.I'll be honest, i did not have any knowledge on Neo geo MVS specifically or any NEO GEO SNK products during the time i got this stuff, so i was pretty startled of its size.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeomvs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeomvs.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Yes, its almost of the same size as the Nintendo's AV Famicom. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/SNKneogeomvs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/SNKneogeomvs.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Or close to a commercially popular earphone box. It is indeed fairly large and bulky compared to other cartridges i realized.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeo.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This game is the famous metal slug sequel , Metal slug 2. A more graphically nice update of the first release which was a hit,just to mention.<br />
<br />
Later on, for a 362 Mbit cartridge , i understood that it is not surprising how huge it is and the other MVS cartridges.Probably, they needed this huge boards to store more memory or something, because at its time, this games really took a quantum leap when it comes to video gaming technology. <br />
<br />
It even have vents on it, because this cartridge would usually sit inside a arcade machine cabinet , unlike the home version AES which is comfortably placed at houses.<br />
They also have 4 screws just right above that are easily accessible, for maintenance purposes is guess.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mvsmetalslug2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mvsmetalslug2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It is also noticeable that unlike usual cartridges, it does have 2 boards inside that inserts simultaneously to the console.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/metalslug2neogeo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/metalslug2neogeo.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It may be a long shot but i am really dreaming to play this game and actually own a mvs arcade system, or even just an adapter with an aes system someday. Yea, i know , i know, its a dream worth big bucks =D . It is fine , as to dream is FREE. =D Who knows.The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-90192759252171801702012-02-19T04:34:00.000-08:002012-02-19T04:34:09.700-08:00HOW DO YOU ENJOY RETRO GAMING? and some weekend mess on a LAZY SUNDAYNo. I will not discuss about nudity or some adult material folks =). It's just one of those Saturday night afters again.<br />
<br />
Just a piece of sentiment. . . from a retro gaming collector<br />
<br />
after some booze last night.I just woke up and...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess5.jpg" /></a></div><br />
One of the very fulfilling moments of my retro video gaming adventure is when i spend my weekends or free nights with my gangsters with some booze while playing games with my ADULT machines, my retro gaming gizmos i meant. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I don't know how other people enjoy the same retro gaming collection but i just hate the one's who get the enjoyment by bragging about the stuff they have and act like they know everything about it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Unlike other collectors, or hoarders? i don't really care and envy other people's collection,all that matters for me is that i do enjoy what i have together with all the adventure, memories and thrill that came along, the "bragging rights" issue is just second thereof. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/mess4.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I just don't see much of a sense out of it,i meant, if you brag to "brag". I do brag about some of my stuff(not so many stuff that i can brag about actually) but,i do it on the purpose of joking, always,and not because i want to brag and dismay or disgrace someone. I don't like it when someone actually acts like he is superior or something.<br />
<br />
for me it all boils down to whenever you actually enjoy them.Or not.<br />
<br />
To those who enjoy bragging .Go on.. eat my pants!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pants.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pants.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-69535190879563874692012-02-13T01:24:00.000-08:002012-02-13T01:24:47.511-08:00An addition to my SEGA GAME GEAR collectionGame gear games and the Unit itself are unarguably collectible,that's at least for me.I don't have this "too much passion" thing for handhelds compared to consoles but, i like game gear. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Segagamegeargames-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Segagamegeargames-1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Although, i think they are the kind of stuff that should be handed that extra TLC. I don't know if anyone would agree with that but,in fact, I have encountered so many broken Sega game gear units over time.LCD failure, power supply power trip, sound problems and so many other problems. Allot of them are lying around but broken.I think i can attest to that,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/3segagamegear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/3segagamegear.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Yes, i own three Sega Game gears and two of them are broken. <br />
<br />
Despite all that <b>Sega game gear</b> is the thing for me still, because i think it is very playable and enjoyable. Its not the type of handheld that you just want to turn off immediately after few minutes because of the game discomfort.The games are quite amusing i can say, just like a small version of your Sega Master system. <br />
<br />
But what i like about it the most is that, it has this TV like lcd that emits light ,this then lets you play it even without a sunlight unlike your 1st gen Nintendo Gameboy(unless you have the gameboy light on it)ironically,that feature probably also gave the game gear its main fall backs such as the battery and LCD failure issues.<br />
<br />
Back to the games, I have now a total of 20 nice games without the doubles.Pretty decent number i guess, can enjoy several games now.Plus that 1 pirate cartridge that says 73 in 1!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegear.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Among the new purchases, i immediately liked this NBA JAM game. Aside from the fact that its my favorite game when i was a kid, the graphics is neat too.(excuse me for the "not so presentable" cosmetic condition) ha ha<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearnbajam.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearnbajam.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This wonder boy is a version of Famicom's adventure island if I am not mistaken. Game play is pretty much like it. The main character looks a bit different though . <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearwonderboy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearwonderboy.jpg" /></a></div><br />
As i also mentioned in my previous post regarding my current <a href="http://8-bit-dreams.blogspot.com/2011/12/hand-held-feauture-iii-1990-sega-game.html">sega game gear collection</a> that i really like the art work within its cartridges. I'm very appreciative of old shiz's such as this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearheavyweightchamp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearheavyweightchamp.jpg" /></a></div><br />
One of the great games among the set so far is this PSYCHIC WORLD. Very nice adventure game.Not to mention about a guys passion about the opposite (we don't see a girl as the lead character right?) =D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearpsychicworld.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegearpsychicworld.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I purchased the set for quite a good price. Bulk,that is. So, again with that type of purchase doubles are a thing to watch out. Well, when we talk about SEGA, that double most likely will be the infamous SONIC the hedgehog, mainly because of its virtual battle with Nintendo's MARIO. LOL<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegeargame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segagamegeargame.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-23096609393014516392012-02-07T22:47:00.000-08:002012-02-07T22:47:36.508-08:00Doctor V Double Trouble! A Bung doctor v 64Okay. I didn't mean trouble as in trouble . If you can go <a href="http://8-bit-dreams.blogspot.com/2011/11/one-sick-doctor-is-in-doctor-v64.html">HERE</a> and read about my first post regarding my first Bung Doctor V64 . I mentioned how i got the stuff and the dilemma that i am having with it.<br />
<br />
Just last, month when i was browsing an old box of more video game stuff and other toys that i got from our old house storage, i did get some more of video gaming stuff. I got some Sega stuff, some Nes and some others that i will later on post.<br />
<br />
Meantime, Ill go on with this one good strike, yet again. I just knew that the first v64 of mine had a partner!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Doctorv64-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Doctorv64-1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Yes, its a Bung Doctor v64! Again! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bungdoctorv64.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bungdoctorv64.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Now i have two of them, mean machines. One good thing though is, this stuff is stock and has the seal on the ram port and the screw holes. Meaning, this was not opened nor upgraded which was done on my other unit.The Ram available for the V64's were 128 megabits (16 MB) or 256 megabits (32 MB)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/sealedDoctorv64.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/sealedDoctorv64.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/doctorv64ram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/doctorv64ram.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The trouble, I still have not found a power supply for them! I am having a project psu though,but its not complete yet. The port and cable used is the same as that of an S-video (4 Pin MiniDIN jack)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/doctorv64cdrom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/doctorv64cdrom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
They are in some obvious reason the same, aside from the CD-Roms (which are easily upgradable) I consider them gems , some of my few priced possessions.The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-4082222536015952022012-02-02T01:41:00.000-08:002012-02-02T01:44:04.174-08:00where to find HK video game shops. A guide on how to go to video game shops in HongkongIf you can remember my first post regarding the guide on <a href="http://8-bit-dreams.blogspot.com/2012/01/hongkong-retro-gaming-shops-and-stores.html"><b>how to go to video game shops in HK</b></a> , this will be another game shop guide on the very few shops around the place of HONG KONG.<br />
<br />
To go here is easy:<br />
<br />
First, find yourself riding a Tram going to Hennessy Road. The Tram passes just right about this road so no worries. The Tram then will pass a street called heard street.There are sings, allot actually,being HK a tourist friendly, so you can see. You can instantly notice it. The street has a famous convenient store on it also that you can make as a landmark.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/heardstreet-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/heardstreet-1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Just walk right into the street and you will see the Oriental 188 shopping centre.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/oriental188shoppingcentre.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/oriental188shoppingcentre.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Just go inside and you will see allot of small stores, computer stuff mostly and some adult material that are half covered with blankets =D (seriously)<br />
<br />
Roam around and at the left most corner you will see the shop. You will see some retro video gaming stuff lying just around the door of the shop.Just like the other HONG KONG video gaming shops , you instantly notice the shop with lots of anime and video gaming posters outside the store. By the way , i cant read chinese so I DONT KNOW THE NAME OF THE STORE =) sorry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrostuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrostuff.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This shop is definitely smaller than the other shops that i visited but this definitely has the quantity edge when we talk about retro gaming stuff. I mean, allot! The gamers from a far land can definitely feast on this shop!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingshopinhk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="440" width="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingshopinhk.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Although the shop is very small, the stuff here are very neatly arranged and compact! You can hardly move inside because there are literally stuff anywhere!you just look and stay in a one aisle position, even just outside the store!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingshopsinhongkong.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="440" width="290" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrogamingshopsinhongkong.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The shop has allot of games in stock! Sega CD, pc engine, megadrive , almost all Japanese goodness you can find here. There are even boxed and sealed stuff!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrobin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retrobin.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The price isn't that friendly though, just imagine a collector buying from a fellow collector. So no bargain prices again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeocdboxed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/neogeocdboxed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamastersystemcontrolstick.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamastersystemcontrolstick.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Always remember to bring loads of quarter when you go in this shop! you can haul dozen or so for sure. As for me, all i got were photos and eyes full of retrogaze memories.The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-11244391316302439912012-01-30T22:21:00.000-08:002012-02-01T03:23:49.021-08:00Turning back the hands of TIME . A Japanese retro gaming GIZMO : Sega MEGA DRIVE 16 bit goodnessHello gamers. Its not a bad thing that at least once in a while we take time to visit and enjoy the roots of video gaming. This video game system that i am going to show may not be really the oldest of the systems but it definitely has that time of age in it, for sure.<br />
<br />
Its a Japanese<b>Sega Mega Drive</b> model 1 .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/SegaMegadrive1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/SegaMegadrive1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Anyone who plans to get one, i guarantee you, you will not regret it. This machine is really mean and one of the best during the time. Its popularity may not match those of Nintedo systems but, this thing is a beauty. I can specifically amen to the sound quality.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/segamegadrivemodel1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/segamegadrivemodel1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The Sega megadrive 16 bit was an answer of Sega to the Rising popularity of 16 bit gaming. They succeded at that point, Sega megadrive was actually the first 16 bit game console released on 1988 (was named MK-1601 initially). Although, it still did not reach that popularity that Sega was hoping for because of the arising Superfamicom and NEC Pc engine CD raging demand.<br />

The unit, controller and hook ups are in a mint condition. The styro has bits of chips and scratches though.But the protection it serves is still there.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadrive1controller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segamegadrive1controller.jpg" /></a></div><br />
talking about hook ups, its not different from your usual game console, so, it wont give you any hassle and fuss. The usual power supply with the common voltage requirements of 10v 850ma. The AV out is easy, uses that 5 pin AV cable that you can directly plug into your TV. Plug and play! easy but classy gaming.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/5pinavcable.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/5pinavcable.jpg" /></a></div><br />

This definitely is one of the sought after old gaming goodies. Why? because it is really entertaining and the game play is cool. The game library for this retro game console is huge also.If you get a chance to grab one of this, please do so.<br />

BANG ! BANG ! a super double down score. Konami Lethal Enforcers guns for Superfamicom :Neat, fun! and retro . Those are the three things that i can describe my new find. <br />
<br />
Just recently i visited a surplus shop locally, which i happen to have visited already once but, that was hell of a long time. There are hardly gaming stuff in that place, more so retro gaming consoles or items so, i visited the shop not for retro gaming related items but, for some other possible cool stuff that i might see.<br />
<br />
Until i found 2 nice boxes lined up among the shelves. (I did not bring any camera with me at that time but i wish i did)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomgun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomgun.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Yes, they are virtual arcade goodness. They are the kind of stuff that can bring you back to your childhood arcade memories and the luxury of playing it in the comforts of home. Most importantly , they are guns!!<br />
<br />
Konami released, these arcade guns are for the game "lethal enforcers" which was also made by the same gaming company. <b>Konami Lethal Enforcers gun for Superfamicom</b> folks<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomgun-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomgun-1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I've always wanted to gather this kinds of stuff for enjoyment. Definitely fun to play with friends on a Saturday night with some booze.<br />
<br />
When i got a hand on the two boxes, i was like, what the heck? they look like the same Superfamicom gun to me but they have different box design. As i inspect and look, i realized that they actually go together because they are for 1st and 2nd player respectively. So, it was a lucky day to actually find two guns that works one for the other. I could have found just one gun or two but for the same player.<br />
<br />
This first box (which is in a great shape, mint) is for the first player. The writings on the box is pure Japanese so i was not able to read but i noticed the sign on the box that says "1".<br />
<br />
When i opened the box, i was really impressed that the stuff is in a very great shape and complete!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomlethanlenforcersgunboxed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomlethanlenforcersgunboxed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The manual was there and the game cartridge itself! Still in plastic and in a mint condish!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomlethalenforcersguncomplete.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomlethalenforcersguncomplete.jpg" /></a></div><br />
i was instantly mesmerized by the detail and the color of the gun! It actually looks like the ones that are used in the arcade. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcersgun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcersgun.jpg" /></a></div><br />
When i opened the manual, of course the writing was in pure Japanese so everything from there was pure instinct i guess, at least not for this picture! I wish i know them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamigunmanualmodels.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamigunmanualmodels.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The second box is impeccably mint than the first player box. It is like brand new, literally. Complete and still has that scent of factory in it, barely used i can say.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomthejustifier.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomthejustifier.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This was the mark that made me realize that they are indeed different and works with one another. It says 2p , The Justifier<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/2psuperfamicomgun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/2psuperfamicomgun.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It still has everything inside like the first box. Very neat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamithejustifier.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamithejustifier.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The manual? or warranty card i guess.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamijustifierguncomplete.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamijustifierguncomplete.jpg" /></a></div><br />
And the Pink gun! Merely for your partners . Lol . The color is really stunning . It is very much of the same size, style, and craftsmanship of the first player gun. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomkonamijustfier.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/superfamicomkonamijustfier.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This second player has that long RJ (phone line) jack <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamijustifiercontroller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamijustifiercontroller.jpg" /></a></div><br />
That connects to this 1st player port,beneath the handle, which has the cable that directly connects to the Superfamicom unit. It then transmits the signals to the first player and the first player to the unit itself to avoid signal jams presumably. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcersgun2ndplayerport.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcersgun2ndplayerport.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The cable of the 1st Player that connects directly to the Superfamicom unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcers1stplayergun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/konamilethalenforcers1stplayergun.jpg" /></a></div>Both units are in an unarguably great working and cosmetic condition. I don't know if they are hard to find or rare, and i don't care either . <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/twosuperfamicomgun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/twosuperfamicomgun.jpg" /></a></div><br />
These Superfamicom guns are surely enjoyable! Aside from the very detailed craftsmanship and catchy colors , it will surely pull me back in time. That time when arcades where just a hit! <br />
<br />
I can remember me spending time just to finish that shooting game inside arcade shops that had huge cabs. Now, i can actually enjoy this at home! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1993konamilethalenforcersforsuperfamicom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1993konamilethalenforcersforsuperfamicom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
That is definitely retro.The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-87131089810232934462012-01-24T02:57:00.000-08:002012-01-24T03:36:11.294-08:00a bloody RED GAMEBOY . nintendo mean machineAlmost every kid in town during its time sure had or used a Nintendo Gameboy. Its popularity reached the market ceiling and peak at a time. Well,mainly because of its superb features specifically, its battery life.<br />
<br />
Its one of those things that i always wanted but never worried and hustled to get immediately. Its one of the retro things that i easily did pass on whenever i saw one. To be honest, i had a mentality on getting a Nintendo Gameboy before i had this one. I said to myself, "i will never get myself a Gameboy unless it is on a very very cheap and steal price".<br />
<br />
Some things really come when you expect them the least. So, this Nintendo Gameboy came.<br />
<br />
Admittedly, i got this stuff pretty cheap! and when i buy something cheap, i mean cheap ! It is cheaper than other collectors definition of cheap. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="290" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboy.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its not the Original release folks. This one is a re-issue.They had this things went around 1995 and the original Nintendo first releases were around 1989 which happen to be the grey colored Gameboy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Rednintendogameboy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Rednintendogameboy.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I had some few other things to go with it before i even had the unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Konamigameboycase.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="430" width="260" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Konamigameboycase.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I got this on a surplus shop . Its an official 1990 Konami Gameboy protector case. Its made in Japan so as expected, the quality is very nice. The rubber is still tight and the fitting is smooth. It also has a neck sling so you can bring it somewhere if you want to enjoy.<br />
<br />
Plus, several games that i also got at a good price. I got quite a number without exerting effort yet to find, that actually tells me that Gameboy's popularity is massive and made Nintendo to produce huge amount of number because of the impeccable demand. Also, it made me realize that this machine really withstand and break the limits of durability. There are still allot of units that survived around. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboygames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="280" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboygames.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboywithgames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="280" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboywithgames.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboyandgames.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="430" width="280" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboyandgames.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Lucky, this unit had no problems. It did not have that common white line damage on LCD, knowing that that is the most common problem of Gameboy units aside from that lost or broken battery cover at the back =D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboyandKonamicase.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NintendoGameboyandKonamicase.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-14288682335349932202012-01-18T19:34:00.000-08:002012-01-18T19:34:48.647-08:006 Ways / Tips to Avoid Over Spending on Video Gaming CollectionResources are very crucial and it plays a huge factor for gamers to acquire new items to complete they're collection or to satisfy the gaming heap. Financial resources specifically. Most of the time, people over spend, we literally forget everything else when we see a glimpse of that video game stuff that we always wanted. Which is totally wrong. Buying must always be wise and budgeted. Having realized that, i formulated some guidelines / tips that can probably solve this reoccurring event. Let me share it and i hope you appreciate. I don't claim that things written here are right but, it definitely gave me a lift and worked for me.<br />
<br />
1. <b>Buy only the things you can</b><br />
<br />
Many people tend to over do it. Collecting is not about owning everything in one click. Always bear in mind that collecting is just a part of your life and is not your life, you have to be practical and put into consideration many other needs before wants.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/atari600xlstainlessalluminumbuttons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/atari600xlstainlessalluminumbuttons.jpg" /></a></div><br />
2. <b>Do not be an impulsive buyer</b><br />
<br />
Don't be too giddy on every stuff that looks flashy and nice. One way of risking a potential rare item is when you start to buy everything in front of you without looking at other options. Take time to survey which item really matters and learn to dig deeper into the rubbish, you might find a fortune beneath.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/OT_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/OT_2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
3. <b>Choose the stuff that will make you feel contented</b><br />
<br />
What is really important when spending on retro gaming collection is the satisfaction one could get at the end of the day. Ask yourself which one could really make you happy. Some just go for quantity, the nostalgia, the price or the age, but those are just factors, go for the one which you think deserves a space on your collection. Buying the wrong stuff will, for quite sometime, possibly make you feel spending on something that is not worth or in short over spending.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Intellivision.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Intellivision.jpg" /></a></div><br />
4. <b>Set your budget limit</b><br />
<br />
Though you may have a loose budget, or you are willing to spend for a certain item, it would be better if you would do your own research first regarding the current value and price of it. Limit yourself to a specific price range, say, how much you can go up or go down. Some sellers take advantage of collectors who seem very overwhelmed with the item and are very willing to take it right away. Everyone of us has this tendency, but come on, Rule #1 says you should only buy the things you can, so you might as well be a wise spender.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/3carts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/3carts.jpg" /></a></div><br />
5. <b>Buy stuff that has the potential to raise up value</b><br />
<br />
There are scarce items and there are rare ones. There is a huge difference between the two. Point is, you just have to really spend on the rare ones. Rare retro games are fountainheads of gaming history. They tell a different story other than those which are usually parts of the history. These rare items has the most potential to raise up value. But first, you must really know first which ones are rare, and which ones are scarce. It takes a whole lot of reading and backtracking to determine which ones are really rare. You cannot just sit there, look at your gaming collection and call yourself a "retro gaming collector". Suit up. Know the facts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Datachjointromsystem.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/Datachjointromsystem.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
6. <b>Stuff that come in complete set are better than those of project</b><br />
<br />
When you buy complete set of gaming stuff, you remove all the hassle and extra expense that will occur from buying a loose or project item. This saves you not only from the dilemma of finding parts to complete the set, but also from spending extra cash on extra controllers, power adapter or any other hook ups. Plus, in general, complete sets are way cheaper because they come in a packaged price.<br />

Sega V Saturn RG-JX2 . A cd based console beautyThe boxed is pretty beat up. The paper itself is not really thick like the other gaming console boxes. I don't know why but for some reason, this is relatively thin than any other that I've seen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavsaturnboxed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavsaturnboxed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I did not buy an accessory or extra game for it yet. The stuff that came with it stayed with it also. The set was basically complete and with some extras i think.<br />
<br />
So what you will see in the photos is the same stuff that i got it the first time about a year ago. Stored it in my box that i just cleaned and opened recently for booting purposes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segasaturnvictor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segasaturnvictor.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/vsaturnboxedopen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/vsaturnboxedopen.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You can see everything lies just above and can be seen when you open the top cover of the box.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavsaturncontroller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavsaturncontroller.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It came with 2 controllers ! at least i can play 2 player games immediately without the effort to find an extra controller. One controller has the Victor logo on it, so i am guessing that it came with the system and the previous owner just bought a second player controller to add up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnadapter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnadapter.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The step down adapter is generic i guess. It says, for PS, 3DO and etc. Consoles that are usually 110volts. If you don't mind me giving an info, general power outlet voltage her in the Philippines is 220v.<br />
<br />
It also has this cartridge that i still don't know up to now )i better start researching and testing). It has actually a switch that has 6 options. You can swith on the choices 1 , Ram card, action replay, 4m direct memory , 5 and 6. I just indicated numbers on the other 3 because i cant understand an there is no written word for what use are they. I think this is an extra for i don't think that it is indeed a licensed release of Sega for this Victor Saturn. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segasaturnactionreplay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segasaturnactionreplay.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The 4MB RAM card? Looks clean.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/4mb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/4mb.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The Audio Video cable of course<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/avcablesegasaturn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/avcablesegasaturn.jpg" /></a></div><br />
and there is a free cd "Memorial selection". Don't know what it is for so.. again i need to do some reading i guess.<br />
<br />
When you open the extra foam protection. You now see the console itself. Its gray with colorful button finish is really neat. You now have the Victor Saturn RG-JX2 model.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnboxed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnboxed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The Victor is commonly known as JVC. It has actually produced two version of the Saturn. The model one RG-JX1 which had black bottom and oval buttons and this model two RG-JX2 which had dark grey bottom and used only version 1.01 V-Saturn bios compared to 1.00 and 1.01 of the first version. They were produced 1994 an 1996 respectively.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/victorsaturnlogo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/victorsaturnlogo.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This baby is in a very good shape. Works with no fuss during the first time i plugged it. It came with no games sure, but! When i opened the console and check out luckily there was one game on the disc player. Its a puzzle version of Street fighter.The name of the game is, "Puzzle Fighter 2", its an original copy so, i was cool to check it out an make sure the unit was on a 100% working condition.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnfreestreetfighterpuzzle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnfreestreetfighterpuzzle.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/victorsaturn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/victorsaturn.jpg" /></a></div><br />
And, it was. The controllers were sweet and responsive. Smooth loading and sound together with the picture quality. I dont know if this thing is modified or not,i will find out soon i guess. Well, I don't really collect Cd based consoles so upon knowing that this unit is sweet working just yesterday, It might not sit with me for long! =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnscreenshot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnscreenshot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnworking.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segavictorsaturnworking.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It was a great feeling to see those cute little characters show up again!The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-37414213476218629192012-01-15T02:08:00.000-08:002012-01-16T23:42:58.667-08:00Hongkong gaming shops and stores . HK retro trippin' a guide on how to go to HK retro gaming shop Toyzone 16I just came to town! Yes, HK is it.If you can come across this old post of mine <a href="http://8-bit-dreams.blogspot.com/2011/08/hk-love.html">HK Family Computer</a> this is actually the motherland.<br />
<br />
As far as i have researched, HK probably is not really a good place to dig retro gaming stuff. Very few items can be found and not cheap (well atleast for me).<br />
<br />
One of the most common shops that came out when i browsed the internet was the TOYZONE 16. The shops in town are kind off hidden because you can see them on places inside commercial buildings which are relatively small, they are not publicly displayed or something that you can pass by the road. I guess that right there is a good indication that retro gaming scene is really not large around. I wonder really, considering the fact that famous consoles had HONGKONG versions and most retro gaming hardware were made in HK.<br />
<br />
Anyways, here is a very short guide for anyone that is planning to go to toy zone 16 Hongkong, someone might want to take a peek while on a vacation: I came from Mongkok so i will just start the guide from a MTR (subway train system in HK) which anybody can go. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Toyzonecallingcard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Toyzonecallingcard.jpg" /></a></div><br />
First ride the MTR Line which will pass the Shim Tsa Tsui Station, that most probably is the line going to Central station.<br />
<br />
Take off from the train at Shim Tsa Tsui Station and then take the Star ferry exit and take the foot bridge just right off the exit. Just follow were most people go and you wont have any problems.<br />
<br />
You need to walk for about a minute or so and then you will see this<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrysign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrysign.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It is the ferry entrance that says "to central" ( you can actually ride the MTR straight to the Central station but, if you are a tourist on the town , might as well ride this ferry for experience)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytocentral.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytocentral.jpg" /></a></div><br />
you wont get lost . Even the stairs have the sign that says "to central" . Hong kong is generally tourist friendly. The secret is to always read the sign, they are everywhere and very visible.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrystairstocentral.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrystairstocentral.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You need to prepare 2HK Dollars only! for the ride. and 2.20 i think during weekends and holidays.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytokenmachine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytokenmachine.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Get a token pass, you can see token machines just on the side.<br />
<br />
You will insert the token just right at the machine before entering the boarding station.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytokenmachineentrance.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferrytokenmachineentrance.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its a very short but nice ferry ride. You will see buildings and other commercial establishments from the ferry. I have been to the ferry both day and night time, id say the view is better during nights because of the fancy lights,and if you happen to go at around 8pm, there is a light show.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferryride.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferryride.jpg" /></a></div><br />
When you go down the ferry, just walk towards the exit and find yourself on any of the many Tram cart stops just at the main road. You can easily find them by looking just above the road, when you see cables hanging above, that means Trams pass by that road.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferryfootbridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/starferryfootbridge.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Ride a Tram cart that has the sign that says "causeway bay". You can see the sign board just right at front of the train<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKtram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKtram.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Go down on Sugar st. Its a very small street,you should have no problem locating "causeway commercial building" . When you enter the building you will see this on the left wall.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/causewaybaybuildingguide.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/causewaybaybuildingguide.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/toyzone16thfloor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/toyzone16thfloor.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Take the lift and go to 16th floor. When you alight the lift, you will see this ultraman action figure! Welcome! I think the store opens around 12noon so..<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/toyzonecausewaybay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/toyzonecausewaybay.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Toyzone16entrance.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Toyzone16entrance.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I think the store actually specializes on action figures , die cast and the likes, not retro gaming stuff. But, yea they have quite a few number that is available, mostly Japanese retro gaming items though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tyzonerobot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tyzonerobot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The price is not cheap but quite fair i guess.That's atleast from my standpoint. Some might find it cheap and others just okay.<br />
<br />
They have on this shelf , Cd's , cartridges for Pc engine, Megadrive, Neo geo pocket, Mega cd, and stuff like that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Mostly Japanese stuff. Sure thing. Did not find any western stuff as far as i am concerned.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Just right beside it is the table top and handheld section. I was expecting to see, HK versions of consoles and some cartridges but i guess they were not there or i just did not see.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260 width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I saw some Game and watch , some obscure Japanese handheld stuff though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/retro3.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I was kind of curious that they had no consoles until i saw some boxes above the cabins.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HK3retroconsole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HK3retroconsole.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Not HK versions but a mint boxed sega megadrive 2 with a sega mega cd 2 and a pc fx. Niceee!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HK3retroconsole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HK3retroconsole.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKsegamegadrive.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKsegamegadrive.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The megadrive 2<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKsegamegacd2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/HKsegamegacd2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Oh how i wish they had it on sale so i can purchase! I think the Mega drive 2 and the Sega mega cd 2 is at 1500HK Dollars. I think its a pretty good price.<br />
<br />
The Pc-fx<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NECpc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/NECpc.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-5441777394754047242012-01-08T08:06:00.000-08:002012-01-08T08:06:10.922-08:00A Trip that's not so good. So far...Its been a while since i last updated , It's just i am to occupied with some extra curricular activities being out of the country. Yes, at last i am about to taste far land video game stuff , retro video gaming stuff specifically. But, to be honest things dont turn out to be nice around. I have not been lurking for shops and markets for the retro gaming shiz yet but, i don't remeber passing by or even notice stuff that are actually retro gaming related. Well, i passed one video game shop and had the chance to quickly peek and saw nothing retro related but this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segadreamcastjunk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/segadreamcastjunk.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Yea, i really feel sorry for this Sega dreamcast. I saw it when i was leaving the store, it was actually on the trash bin at the door. Of course, out of curiosity i spoke to the owner, i asked him "why is this here? (the dreamcast) , are you throwing it away?" Ohhhh gooodness, bad thing was, the owner does not understand English and i cant talk better local language myself so, shoot, I ended up leaving the store and will come back as soon as i figured out how to ask that in local language and i have time ha ha<br />
<br />
I don't this place has really allot. I meant, in terms of video gaming stuff, scene and all others that come with it, at least nowadays. <br />
<br />
I also came across this amusement park where you can play arcades and many other games , they have pretty decent shop and huge space with huge amount of cabs ! Sad thing was, when i entered the shop, i was the only one in there! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/under_ground.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/under_ground.jpg" /></a></div><br />
believe it or not , the park has no visitors when i came in, it was open but all i saw were employees and myself ! I don't know if it was because of the day or what but it was late afternoon that time so...<br />
<br />

I hope to better my journey soon and find some really get some good stuff around! Hopefully. I promise to share them here as soon as i find some! Wish me luck!The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-67602684276822482902011-12-26T22:38:00.000-08:002011-12-27T00:53:53.445-08:00Bandai Datach Joint ROM system for Nintendo family computerNintendo family computer have always amazed me. Its capabilities are just amazing considering the level of video gaming technology during its era. So many licensed and third party accessories / peripherals were around and most of the times, i never knew existed until i actually get one.<br />
<br />
Well, one of those things is this Nintendo Family Computer (famicom) Datach joint ROM system.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Bandaidatachjointromsystem.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Bandaidatachjointromsystem.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I am a die hard Famicom fan, really, but not in my general research of famicom add-ons i encountered this.<br />
<br />
Its made by Bandai in 1992 and is an official part of the FF (famicom family) with the insignia.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachfamicomfamily.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachfamicomfamily.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It basically lets you play set of games that are in a different in form from that of the original famicom carts. Specially made games, there were 7 games released for this Datach add-on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1992bandaidatachjointromsystemgame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1992bandaidatachjointromsystemgame.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This game (dragon ball z) came along with the system so its not really rare or anything like that, I got the stuff loose (without box or anything) luckily this cartridge was still inserted on the ROM port. That gave me the luxury of at least testing it and at most using it for game play.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachcartridge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachcartridge.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The other games were:<br />
<br />
Ultraman Club: Spokon Fight!!<br />
SD Gundam: Gundam Wars<br />
Crayon Shin-Chan: Orato Poi Poi<br />
Yū Yū Hakusho: Bakutō Ankoku Bujutsue<br />
Battle Rush: Build Up Robot Tournament<br />
J League: Super Top Players<br />
<br />
The cartridges are small sized compared to original form of Nintendo Family Computer cartridges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachgameandfamicomgame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachgameandfamicomgame.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This ROM cartridge fits into the ROM port placed right at the back of the Datach joint ROM system. It too, like the famicom cart slot, has that left and right slant notch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachcartridgeslot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachcartridgeslot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachromin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachromin.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Fits really nice. I did not have any problems loading the game so, i think it is in a great condition. Loads up immediately.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachgameandport.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachgameandport.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachwithgame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachwithgame.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its different and not your usual add-on. The main feature of this system is its Card reading capability, where you need to slide in cards with bar codes (cards are packaged with the game cartridges). The cards then will generate the characters that are needed to play the games.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/famicomdatach.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/famicomdatach.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You need to swipe the thin cards in this thin space which is placed at the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1992bandaidatachjointromsystembarcodereader.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1992bandaidatachjointromsystembarcodereader.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Too bad i dont have any barcodes for my Dragonball Z game to generate characters, but upon research, it is still indeed possible to generate characters using barcodes from different stuff, its just that you need to do trial and error. Bar codes from cartons and other stuff. As long as it has barcode in it and can fit the slide card in port. (i need to cut many of those grocery items! )<br />
<br />
The bottom part has that cartridge shape port that connects to the cartridge input port of the Family computer. Just like the Famicom disk system RAM<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachbottom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/bandaidatachbottom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachbottom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/datachbottom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The Datach has that grayish US NES look and fits really well on the mothership Japanese Nintendo Family Computer. Very battleship or spaceship looking when you integrate both. Looks really nice!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamilycomputerandbandaidatachjointromsystem.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamilycomputerandbandaidatachjointromsystem.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Like those Japanese robot jets!I really like getting stuff like this! Brings my console collection into a different level. Nice to see them lying on each other, playable of course!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamilycomputerwithbandaidatach.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamilycomputerwithbandaidatach.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamicombandaidatach.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendofamicombandaidatach.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I'll post an update soon when i got to cut and produce characters from bar codes! I really am looking forward to that, you see i can load the game but still cant play it because i have no characters yet. I don't know yet if its possible to print bar codes in a paper and then place in a card board or something. I hope that a possibility!The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-13125895574170100592011-12-25T10:48:00.000-08:002011-12-25T10:53:46.256-08:00NEC pc engine super grafx 1989 BOXED!Since its that time of the year. Holiday means free time. I got nothing to do really for the day so i decided to take a peek at my storage and open up some boxed stuff. I don't remember having a post anything about NEC products yet so i think this post is perfect !<br />
<br />
Over my boxed stuff i chose to make a post of this 1989 NEC (Nippon Electric Company) pc engine super grafx (no typorgraphical error) its grafx <br />
<br />
I got it with box ! Not in a very nice condition though, some wear and tear around it but, i don't really mind. Boxes and manuals are just bonus for me ! still lucky to have it in box<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Pcenginesupergrafx.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Pcenginesupergrafx.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxboxed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxboxed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafx.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafx.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You see the box is pretty beat up. With sticky's around to save its state i guess. I hope the owner had some courtesy to use clear tape ha ha! but, the box itself is nicely built with cool grayish display<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/supergrafxbox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/supergrafxbox.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I remember opening it back then when i got it on a local surplus sale. Just getting a piece like this is cool, specially on a very decent price. I dont even want to elaborate on that part but, id just say its way cheaper than the ones posted for sale on the internet and expected price =) Upon opening, i saw this<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxmanual.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxmanual.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It still had the paper works (related and some extra!) and a controller. That's the bonus which i was talking about. Very seldom i expect paper works really. Usually you just toss these kind of stuff because you are very excited to play the system. You did not buy the thing to read manuals right?<br />
<br />
I am guessing this is the controller manual?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcontrollermanual.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcontrollermanual.jpg" /></a></div><br />
plus this long yellow paper with lists on Japanese characters so i cannot understand really. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxyellowpaper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxyellowpaper.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Now the extras! I hope i could read Japanese. I was really curious about this paper and the writings and drawings, im very sentimental about these stuff so i didnt threw it away of course. Who knows, the original owner might, one day read and see this post =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxdrawing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxdrawing.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The paper is really old and looks nasty. I don't mind, really, it came with the system so, it stays! Its considered as a part of the history and experince. If anyone can translate the Japanese writings in there, pls. =)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxwriting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxwriting.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The main console manual. In great shape i can say. When you browse the manual, its all in Japanese characters. No translation .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxconsolemanual.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxconsolemanual.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/supergrafxmanual.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/supergrafxmanual.jpg" /></a></div><br />
And! the main course, of course. The thing of beauty, i was stunned that it is in a very good shape. Mint! No bumps, scratches or whatever.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Pcenginesupergrafxconsole.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Pcenginesupergrafxconsole.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Looks like an army battle ship to me, has the though looks! The logo font reminds me of the G.I. Joe font. Too bad It didn't came with any game that's rightfully for it. No nothing , i wish it did so i can use and test it! Too bad up to now i don't have any Pc engine HU card yet to test my Pc engine stuff. Cant find time to look for one yet. One day! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/supergrafx.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/supergrafx.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This system did not really last long. Well, one factor is that the games made for this specific system were so short numbered and expensive although it can play PCE HuCards, PCE CDs, PCE Super CDs and PCE Arcade CDs those cannot really maximize this super grafx enhanced graphics.<br />
<br />
You can notice the controller port at the right side.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcontrollerport.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcontrollerport.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The power supply port at the left side upper part of the console. This retro thing requires 9volts of power supply which is nice because i dont have to worry looking for some bizarre power supply requirements.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxpowersupplyport.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxpowersupplyport.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It has the technology to play disc games. If you happen to have or purchased the SuperGrafx with Super CD Rom 2. You can integrate it with here at the port somewhere on the top. It still has that cover.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcdport.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxcdport.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The bottom part of the system is pretty simple but well built all in all. Quality materials used. Very usual of Japanese items.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxback.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It also came with a controller ! That's nice. No worries of trying to find for one. Physical aspect is great ( Excuse me for the still dirty stuff, i dont why but i seem to have forgotten cleaning it before storing)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxcontroller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1989pcenginesupergrafxcontroller.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It's one of those more comfortable controllers that i encountered. Very comfortable and playable. Plays better than those of other Japanese controllers. Its handy.<br />
<br />
Looks really great with the console itself. Paired the colors and the built.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxwithcontroller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/pcenginesupergrafxwithcontroller.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-60592986635638259172011-12-25T00:48:00.000-08:002011-12-25T00:48:19.930-08:00Hand held feauture IV : 1983 Nintendo game and watch Mario Brothers . a post for a causeBeers and cheers are all over the world ! What can i say, everyone should be happy during this times,but, I am half of that state during the past few days, i celebrate and enjoy but unfortunate things are at the back of my mind. <br />
<br />
Again, i tuned into the television this morning and still, the news is about the tragic flood that happened here in my country (Philippines) just few days before Christmas. More or less 1000 (yes , One thousand or more)died. All swept away by flood. Families, lives, home and everything instantly. <br />
<br />
I don't know why but, when i got off to bed, i had this sad feeling about the very tragic event, its very unfortunate and disturbing. After i whispered my morning prayers for the victims, my eyes randomly passed a glance at my table and saw my cute little retro thing that's been with me for a sometime, i gave a stare to it and somehow reminded me more of the victims in the tragic event.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Mariobrothersgameandwatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Mariobrothersgameandwatch.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Kids, to be specific, i don't know the number but i am assuming that the most vulnerable, when tragedies strike are the young people. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/gameandwatchback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/gameandwatchback.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I stared at my Mario brothers game and watch. I decided to, again, steal some of that holiday time and touch my computer's keyboard for a cause.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/nintendogameandwatch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/nintendogameandwatch.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Two little drawings at the front cover (Mario and Luigi) and the word "MARIO BROS". One wearing a very colorful red suit and green (colors of Christmas) . Very kid looking and seems like they are playing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendogameandwatchmarioluigibutton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Nintendogameandwatchmarioluigibutton.jpg" /></a></div><br />
My imaginative mind created images and flashes, i cant help it, bad feeling strikes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1983nintendogameandwatchmariobutton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1983nintendogameandwatchmariobutton.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its heartbreaking to think that the youngsters who were casualties in that unlikely event cannot play and be a kid anymore. It ended so fast.<br />

I hope that if you are reading this, wherever you are,may you utter a very very short prayer for all of them. =) Hoping that this short little post of mine helps. Spread out the word, retro gaming is not always about the games , we also make ways to help.The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-66427768263757448462011-12-24T01:15:00.000-08:002011-12-24T01:15:24.673-08:003/3 TOMY collection series : 1978 TOMY Digital derbyOkay. Happy holidays to every one ! Its that time of the year again! Honestly, i am too busy attending parties and family gatherings but i felt guilty for not completing the 3 part TOMY goodness series so, here i am stealing some of the very precious holiday time to update my gaming blog! (true) <br />
<br />
Anyway, here is my retro game 1978 Tomy digital derby (auto raceway) being said that, i am kind off busy, i haven't had that time really to clean it up , so please excuse me for the still dirty stuff <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978tomyDigitalderby.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978tomyDigitalderby.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Again! The very nice control panel ! This time, since this unit is about a car racing game, it gives you that pleasure of a "car driver's seat" look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/TOMYdigitalderby.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/TOMYdigitalderby.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You got there a very nicely done small but very realistic looking steering wheel . Not a typical steering wheel , but a racing type !<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitalderbysteeringwheel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitalderbysteeringwheel.jpg" /></a></div><br />
With the speed gauges over the dashboard, the lap counter is at the bottom left which serves as your lap and score also.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbylapcount.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbylapcount.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Very cool, it lets you drives faster with the shift gears 1 2 3 and neutral so you can stop for a while and avoid car crash!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbygear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbygear.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Really reminds me of the famicom game "Road fighter" Almost the same gameplay really , Time bound , <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978tomydigitalderbytimer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978tomydigitalderbytimer.jpg" /></a></div><br />
slows when you bump the cars but , you don't have to get any gas cars though and you cant let superman fly even getting it perfect =D<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbylogo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978Tomydigitalderbylogo.jpg" /></a></div>The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-25068392664111479102011-12-19T22:52:00.000-08:002011-12-19T22:52:18.832-08:002/3 TOMY collection series : 1979 TOMY Hit and MissleAlright. This is the second part of my 3 part edition TOMY goodness.<br />
<br />
This version is the TOMY Hit and Missile, released in 1979 and is a sure thing of beauty. Way before the advent of missile shooting games in digital handhelds, this came in a quite eccentric interface and way of playing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslehandheld.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslehandheld.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Like the other part of the collection, it looks very futuristic. It somehow resembles an army sort of looks, with gauges and altitude numbers on the screen. Overall, the look resembles a control board in a military aircraft. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1979tomyhitandmissle-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1979tomyhitandmissle-2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The screen is very nice! Round shaped and is in almost mint condition.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslescreen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslescreen.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Seems to portray a jet plane or radar of a plane, with coordinates looking lines and numbers!<br />
<br />
The bottom part is artistically done. Seems like a plane control board with the buttons and some fake screw shapes. The two primary switches used for attacking is the fire button and the missile control valve which controls the attacking. Both are logically placed for grip and easier device for the left and right hand. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebuttons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebuttons.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Same with the other TOMY units, it has the timer that can be set to start and finish the game. As usual, the thing would also be noisy due to the mechanical rolling of the films by small motors inside. The goal is to, well, hit the target with a missile by manipulating the control valve and fire button.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissletimer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissletimer.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I'd say it became famous, as it was released as Missile Strike and Terra Hit in United Kingdom and Space Attack in Japan.<br />
<br />
The gears on the score misses at times, I think I need to open up and refurbish the gears inside, doesn't rotate at times but i think it is fixable. Just stuck up due to dirt or dust.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslescore.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslescore.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Due to the creative placement of buttons, the unit is bulky but is very handy and playable. Push fire button makes it easier for some rapid gaming action.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1979tomyhitandmisslefirebutton.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1979tomyhitandmisslefirebutton.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Did not came with any manual or other paper works so the instructions at the back is very helpful! All three of the TOMY collection has this very helpful instructions placed at the back. The manufacturers did a great job there, in case of lost manual and stuff. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissleback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissleback.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissleinstructions.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmissleinstructions.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Heavy duty gear needs heavy duty batteries. Requires 2 "C" batteries also.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebatterycompartment.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebatterycompartment.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
This unit came along with the two other TOMY units, I bought the lot to an old collector who sold (almost) all his collections way back, about 4 years or so.<br />
<br />
<br />
Among the 3 TOMY collection I have, this is the only one that I got with box. The box is very cool and retro. I'm just unfortunate that it's not in a good condition (but at least)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1979tomyhitandmisslebox.jpg" /></a></div><br />

This post will be a part of a 3 series of TOMY goodness which has a little obscurity of old school video gaming.<br />
<br />
Ive seen quite a few weird video game stuff but a video game which runs via dynamo , film and lots of gears? electro-mechanical? I should have known! =D<br />
<br />
Ladies and gents my first of the three part collection, a 1980 Tomy Digital Daredevil.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1978digitaldaredeviltomy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1978digitaldaredeviltomy.jpg" /></a></div><br />
A very futuristic looking retro gaming piece. Can really compare it to brand new toys when it comes to looks and style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/TOMYdigitaldaredevilgauges.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/TOMYdigitaldaredevilgauges.jpg" /></a></div><br />
When i got this stuff i was really amused and at the same time confused. The question that popped my mind was "how the the hell does this thing work?" (in the first place i should have thought that it might not be working anymore ha ha) <br />
<br />
As i checked the battery compartment , it requires a "C" battery, so its a bit bizarre for me , i never saw like this one before so i was really curious to test it out immediately.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilbattery.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilbattery.jpg" /></a></div><br />
There are gauges all around this bulky unit.<br />
<br />
There is a gauge which says "TIMER" . I actually discovered that you need to turn this to the "s" mark which represents start then turns slowly while game play is on up to the part that says "f" which represents finish. (this feature is found on every unit of this 3 part TOMY collection)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredeviltimer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredeviltimer.jpg" /></a></div><br />
When i fired the thing up, It was loud! Nope, it doesn't have speakers or sound from the game it self, it was noisy because the gears started rolling. You can literally hear the gears functioning in the machine.<br />
<br />
This unit really is in a good cosmetic condition . Very minty looking all over (almost) aside from this noticeable sort of scratch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitaldaredevilscreen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitaldaredevilscreen.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Ugh. Yea, bit frustrating to see this! its light but the material used in the screen was like semi glass plastic that scratches are really seen.<br />
<br />
The game instruction can be seen at the back <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilback.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilback.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilinstructions.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1978digitaldaredevilinstructions.jpg" /></a></div><br />
In this particular unit, Digital daredevil, your character is a guy on a motorcycle which jumps on obstacles lik car's , drum's and etc. I guess it was sort of the motorcycle stunt-riders Evil Knievel & Ernie Devlin madness at the time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/tomydigitaldaredevilbuttons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/tomydigitaldaredevilbuttons.jpg" /></a></div><br />
You can also shift gears! It does go berzerk and really fast when in high speed. It is needed to go pass long barriers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitaldaredevilhighandlowspeed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/tomydigitaldaredevilhighandlowspeed.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Screen flashes red lights whenever you miss a jump or hit and obstacle. (ill post a video of the actual game play soon)<br />
<br />
If you get bored already , you can adjust the difficulty level at the right side of the unit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/digitaldaredevildifficultyswitch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/digitaldaredevildifficultyswitch.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its very enjoyable to play. I just wished it had a longer or other sets of film rolls to go with =DThe Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5917934969649479650.post-8100435128675805802011-12-12T22:07:00.000-08:002011-12-12T22:07:57.841-08:00"I am programmed to beat you" . - 1977 Milton Bradley Comp IV / 4the 7's always bring a smile on me, specially when we talk about the years.70's in particular. 70's where the hippies and gizmos where not even half pop yet. Those were some of the years you pertain when you say "back in the days". I wasn't around that time yet but, when i picture the nostalgic events from stories of people i meet, i think 70's was really one of a kind experience and enjoyment.<br />
<br />
Bright lights and flashy colors, and now considered obscure, video games were around and very much alive. Back then, table tops are one of those flashy things that you can have and brag about, and i think this 70's baby is one of them. <br />
<br />
(BEFORE THE TLC)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1977miltonbradleycompIV.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/Slideshow/1977miltonbradleycompIV.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The dust of time !<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977Miltonbradleycomp4lcd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977Miltonbradleycomp4lcd.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Its a retro 1977 Milton Bradley comp 4 (IV) . Its a sequencing game that looks really vintage. The design and craftsmanship is very 70's . Typical table top design powered by very bright led lights.<br />
<br />
Artistically designed curves and buttons. Quality materials as expected i can say.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977Miltonbradleycomp4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977Miltonbradleycomp4.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The game is played like this, computer chooses a random number sequence and you will try to guess that combination. You try to enter the combination as few tries as possible. To increase difficulty or level the combination can go up to 3, 4, or 5<br />
<br />
Played by calculator like number pad<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4keypads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4keypads.jpg" /></a></div><br />
We may find it really boring compared to other video games really. but i think it was hell of a fun "back in the days". Now it lacks the action, graphic content and sound that we all look for =D<br />
<br />
Like the game itself. The inside is very simple and all quality. Of course i gave the same treatment . cleaning treatment. <br />
<br />
Disassembled it first <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4disassembly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4disassembly.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Powered by bright LED lights on the main board!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4lights.jpg" imageanchor="1" style=""><img border="0" height="260" width="430" src="http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee498/8-bit-dreams/1977miltonbradleycomp4lights.jpg" /></a></div><br />

I also researched that there were other country releases of this game. Logic 5 in U.K. and Pythaugoras in Japan by Takara. Was re-released in 80's with an additional blue shade color on the screen. <br />

*By the way the quote "I am programmed to beat you" was the comp IV's promotional phrase being it a sort of computer video game back then. It was printed huge in front of the box. NICE !!!The Dark Rifthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01849465972651404475noreply@blogger.com0
